Minnesota Management and Budget suggests Electronic Transfer Payments

July 28, 2022

Do you still get paper checks for town aid from MMB?

There are a number of townships that still get checks sent to them from the State for town aid and other funds.

A better solution: sign up for electronic fund transfer payments, to directly deposit

Townships can sign up with the State to have checks deposited directly into their accounts and then get email alerts from the State when the payments are deposited, the amount, and what they are for.  This is a positive process for many reasons:

Checks don't get lost;

check won't be sent to the wrong address if staffing change,

check will get deposited right away, etc.

Townships receive multiple state aid payments that are generated by Minnesota Management & Budget (MMB).

How To Sign Up:

For those Townships that are not currently enrolled in Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) payments, please contact MMB at 651-201-8106 or efthelpline.mmb@state.mn.us.

This aid needs to be accounted for in year it was disbursed; enrolling in the EFT payments ensures timely recognition.

Email Alerts:

* Townships can also sign up for e-mail alerts indicating when payments are made, the amounts, and the type of payment. The MMB EFT phone number is 651-201-8106, and their e-mail is: efthelpline.mmb@state.mn.us.
