Residents can sign up for the Minnesota Broadband Line Extension Connection Program today!

If you currently do not have wired reliable broadband service of at least 100/20 Mbps you can sign up. Applicants should complete every applicable question including providing additional comments that will help explain the critical need of broadband for the household/business, including any barriers.

The purpose of the Broadband Line Extension Connection Program is to award grants for the extension of existing broadband infrastructure to unserved locations. An unserved location is a location that does not have a wired broadband service of at least 25Mbps download and 3 Mbps upload. People can report to OBD that a wired broadband service is unavailable at their residence or business by entering information on the online application or by calling 651-259-7610 and requesting a paper application or by talking to someone at OBD who will complete the application on their behalf. Please note, that submitting location information into the Line Extension Connection portal does not guarantee extension of service but will allow internet service providers to have the opportunity to review the location and submit a bid based on the cost to bring service to your location.

More information on the program, including the online application, Frequently Asked Questions, and other resources are available online: mn.gov/deed/programs-services/broadband/extension/.

Please contact the Office of Broadband Development with any questions or reach out to the Office of Broadband directly by email (deed.broadband@state.mn.us), phone (651-259-7610), or mailing address (Office of Broadband Development, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, 180 E 5th St Suite 1200, St. Paul, MN 55101).
