October 2023 - Various Locations (details below)Are you concerned about the polarization and rancor in today’s politics at every level? You can help create a better way that embraces respect for all—and gets things done for constituents. Elected officials can have vigorous policy debates without demonizing those on the other side. We can learn to “disagree better” and find common ground. Minnesota is leading the way.

Managing Difficult Conversations with Colleagues is the second of two Braver Angels workshops offered this year to elected officials in Minnesota (the other dealt with constituent relationships). Learn new skills to engage effectively with colleagues who disagree with you. This includes finding “accurate disagreement,” which can often lead to finding common ground. Brought to you through a collaboration between Braver Angels, the League of Minnesota Cities, the Association of Minnesota Townships, the Minnesota School Boards Association, and the Association of Minnesota Counties.

Target Audience: Elected officials and staff of cities, counties, townships, and school boards.

Braver Angels Facilitators:

• Lucy Gerold, Retired Minneapolis Police Commander

• Dr. Bill Doherty, U of M and Braver Angels Co-Founder

Cost: $35 per person.

Duration: All sessions run from 1:00 - 3:30 p.m., with registration starting at 12:30 p.m.
